TEDx @ISB : The Butterfly Effect.

Picture this: a day filled with captivating speakers, thought-provoking discussions, and an atmosphere buzzing with inspiration. TEDx ISB is not just an event; it is a journey into the realms of curiosity and change. As the doors of knowledge swing open, we invite you to step into a world where ideas have the power to shape the future.

Hosted by the International School of Bucharest on the 6th of April, TEDx ISB brings together visionaries from diverse fields—entrepreneurs, lawyers, artists, students and more—to share their stories and insights on how seemingly minor actions can cause monumental shifts in our lives and society.

The Butterfly Effect & The Chaos Theory

One of our speakers defined the Butterfly Effect as being “ all about how small things have great impacts, which means we cannot just ignore little things. The butterfly effect asks us to be careful with our decisions because we never know what consequences those decisions will have, they’re unpredictable.” The theme of our event derives from our need to better understand the unknown and the unlimited possibilities that come from it. While some people are scared of uncertainty, having no definition for the events that are to come allows you to make up your future, through small actions that cause a great wave of impact.

In essence, chaos theory explores how seemingly chaotic and random systems can give rise to ordered patterns and outcomes. It's a study of sensitivity to initial conditions, where tiny changes in the starting state of a system can lead to vastly different outcomes over time. This sensitivity is exemplified by the butterfly effect, where the flap of a butterfly's wings in one part of the world can, through a series of intricate interactions, contribute to the formation of a hurricane on the other side of the globe.

We might not be able to see what tomorrow's going to look like, but we definitely can strive to create change today. That’s what TEDx ISB is all about.
